March 6, 2011

Dear Parents:

We are in the final few weeks of study before your children take their first Holy Communion.  It is important that they attend as many classes as possible over the next few weeks so that they are well prepared.

On Sunday, March 20, we will be having our parents meeting where we will go over important information concerning their first communion service. It will be held in the sanctuary during Religious Education class time.

Sunday, April 10 is the next important date for your child as this will be his or her second reconciliation. Having said reconciliation (confession) once already this time should be easier as they will know what to expect.

Because Easter is so late this year the children will not have class the two weeks prior to May 1st the date for their first communion. Classes will not be in session on Palm Sunday, April 17 or on Easter Sunday, April 24. Saturday, April 30 we will have a rehearsal beginning at 10 AM. All first communion candidates must attend the rehearsal.

If you have any questions I can be reached by phone at 847 878 8882 or you can see me in the Religious Education office of Sunday.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Bobbi Sfire

First Holy Communion Meeting, Sunday, March 20, 2011

 ·        First Holy Communion will be on May 1 at the 11:30 AM mass. We are asking you to arrive at church by 9:30 AM.
This will give you time for pictures and to get organized for the sacrament.
 ·        We will have a rehearsal on Saturday, April 30 at 10:00 AM. This is not optional. Everyone receiving the sacrament
           must be in attendance.
 ·        Attire:
Girls will be in white dresses and special occasion dress shoes, veils are optional. No gloves or items carried.
Boys will be in black slacks, white shirts with black ties, special occasion dress shoes, and jackets are preferred.
Please no sport shoes or sneakers.
·        Seating in the church will be reserved. Since this is our usual mass time and we cannot take up the entire church we will have the first 4 pews on each side of the church reserved. The children will be in the front pew. Families will be seated in the next 4 pews on each side of the church, 1 pew per family. Pews will be assigned alphabetically.
 ·        There will be a $50.00 fee to cover the cost of additional teaching materials, alter flowers and church décor plus their cake.  Do any of your children have allergies that we will need to accommodate?

  ·        If any candidates were not baptized at Our Lady of Lebanon we must have on file in the office of the church a copy of their Certificate of Baptism. We ask that they are turned into the office no later than Sunday, April 10. We will happily make of copy of their certificate for you.
 ·        On Saturday, April 30 we will enjoy cake and juice and coffee after the Rehearsal. You will also receive your child’s First Holy Communion Certificate on Saturday in order to avoid the possibility of missing someone on Sunday when everyone is excited and has so much on his or her mind. Pictures and video are still being worked out. The cost for the pictures will be additional.
 ·        If you have any questions or concerns we can talk about them now or you can see me afterward. You can also call me at 847 878 8882 or contact me by e-mail at eastoxfordsfire@aol.com.
We thank you deeply for your cooperation. We continue to pray for your child(ren) and your entire family at this most sacred time.
